The Dracaena Marginata is an old time favourite making a comeback in 2024. It originates from Madagascar and is very easy to care for, so no matter whether you are new to houseplants or have an extensive collection this plant won’t disappoint.

Water

Only water when the soil has almost dried out. Overwatering can cause root rot which leads to the death of the stem. Always check the soil before watering, if in doubt it’s better to wait a bit.

Light

The dragon tree thrives in bright indirect light, and tolerates moderate shade. Turn the plant every so often to avoid leaning and promote even growth.

temperature + Humidity

Ideal temperature for this plant is between 18-27°C and even though it may tolerate a bit lower temperature, it is sensitive to cold drafts. You can maintain average humidity level by misting the leaves occasionally if the air becomes too dry.

Feed

Use a liquid fertiliser once a month during the spring and summer months to encourage new growth.

A little extra…

Dracaena Marginata is one of the top 10 air-purifying plants according to NASA, so not only a great looking plant, but helps to make your environment healthier too.
