We get a lot of questions about repotting plants, and often people are intimidated by the process, worried they will get it wrong or just not sure whether their plant needs to be repotted in the first place.

Here are 6 signs to look for if you think your plant needs repotting:

1: All of the roots

You can clearly see that the roots are growing through the drainage hole at the bottom of the planter.

2: Very dry soil

You notice that your plant dries out more quickly than usual, requiring more frequent waterings

3: Slow growth

Plant is growing slower than normal, which is different from winter dormancy

4: Uprooting

You notice that the roots are pushing the plant up, out of the planter

5: Easily toppled

Your plant is extremely top-heavy and falls over easily

6: Salt & mineral build-up

You can see lots of salt and mineral build-up either on the planter or your plant itself
